Misty Meadows Equine Learning Center 

Description: Horse Handler - lead a horse during one of our lesson to support a student who is learning. Walking on uneven surfaces and some jogging required. Volunteer times are an average of two hours, one time per week at our 55 Misty Meadows Lane farm in West Tisbury.

Harbor Homes of Martha's Vineyard - new!

Volunteer Description: Do you like gardening?. Harbor Homes operates 2 buildings that provide housing for formerly homeless residents. While residents mow the lawns, they both have perennial gardens that are over grown and full of weeds. We would like to see the outside appearances beautified. We would love to have a volunteer(s) to help us keep up the gardens. We provide gardening tools and new plantings as needed.

Hospice & Palliative Care of Martha's Vineyard - new!

Description: Hospice's largest annual event the Summer Soiree held at Farm Neck on August 9th. ACE MV

ACE MV needs a volunteer to help with Fall Enrichment Programming. Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicate with instructors
  • Find new instructors as needed
  • Organize class calendars
  • Plan enrichment programming
  • Work one on one with Program Coordinator

ACE MV is also looking for a volunteer to help coordinate their speaker series. The goal is to host an inspiring and educational speaking series in the fall on topics such as: water quality, Island living, Disability information for Employers. The volunteer would be helping with coordinating this series of lectures, panels and classes, to recruit speakers, set the schedule/calendar, and develop an inspiring and informative community series of events. The volunteer should be  well-organized and easy to communicate with. Time commitment will require approx. 5-10 hours per week, making phone calls, using internet, and organizing events between September and February.

Hospice MV

Director of Development and Communications: This position will lead the transformation of fundraising, marketing and communications to maximize growth-orientated capabilities to deliver on its long-term vision and mission. This full-time position will have primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to grow fundraising revenue through the solicitation of identified strategies such as, but not limited to, major gifts, annual giving, memorial contributions, corporate and foundation support.

Qualifications: 3 years in similar position with increasing responsibilities. Certified Fund Raising Executive preferred.  Success in building strong donor relationships and securing major gifts. College degree in related field. Excellent communication and writing skills, proficient in financial management of a fundraising program, ability to engage, utilize and support volunteers, strong social media skills, proficient with related software including donor database (Raiser’s Edge experience is a plus).

Development and Communications Associate: This position reports to the Director of Development and Communications and is responsible for assisting in and supporting fundraising operations. Incumbent will manage donor database, process on-line donations, write donor acknowledgement letters, assist in promoting special events, create development calendars, maintain databases, and assist in preparing event materials. This position will also be responsible for support to the development committee, event planning committee and volunteers during fundraising campaigns and events. Conducts media outreach and manages agency social media accounts. Performs administrative duties such as filing, data entry, mailings, and supports special projects as requested.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with 2-5 years relevant experience including fundraising, event planning, website development, media outreach, and working with volunteers. Proficient in all Microsoft applications including Excel. Strong time management, communication and organizational skills. Bilingual Portuguese/English preferred. Valid US driver’s license and vehicle required.

Hospice Care Aid: is position reports to the Clinical Director and is a member of the interdisciplinary team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient in their home. The Aide will meet patient’s personal needs, provide comfort, and may perform light homemaker duties. The Aide is responsible for observing the patient, reporting these observations and documenting observations and care performed. This is a full-time position, however, will consider part-time. Qualifications: 3 years previous work experience. Has ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given. Comfortable with providing specialized care to the terminally ill and emotional support to the caregivers. Is secure with issues of death and dying. Ability to work with little direct supervision. CNA experience preferred.

Clinical Office Assistant: This position is responsible for supporting all clinical office front end processes including intake, referral, billing liaison, scheduling and other office functions to ensure compliance of the hospice services consistent with Hospice & Palliative Care of Martha’s Vineyard (HPCMV) policies and procedures and all applicable state and federal laws.  Working knowledge of Microsoft and electronic medical records software needed. Billing experience preferred. Ability to integrate, support and oversee volunteers into the work-flow.  Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with multiple systems. Excellent customer service skills to communicate with compassion and professionalism. Qualifications: Excellent in written and verbal communication.  College degree with 3 years related experience preferred.

Finance & Asset ManagerIsland Housing Trust, a non-profit developer of year-round affordable ownership and rental homes on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, has a job opening for a Finance & Asset Manager, a senior management position reporting to the Executive Director. Responsibilities include leading and managing all financial functions and providing expert guidance in all aspects of IHT’s financial management including IHT’s related entities. Consideration given to employing or contracting for a full or part time position (3 days/week minimum) with some remote work. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required and CPA a plus. Island Grown Initiative

Description:  The Island Grown Schools Educator maintains robust gardens at schools and offers standards-based lessons on food, farming, cooking and nutrition in the classroom and garden.

Principal responsibilities:

School gardens: 35% - Plan and implement the planting and maintenance of school gardens throughout the year. - Create an accessible and inclusive outdoor learning environment for multiple learning styles. - Engage school community in garden projects and encourage ownership of the garden.

Classroom: 35% - Implement age appropriate curriculum based on IGS units and learning goals. - Communicate with teachers to tie lessons in their curriculum. - Meet with teachers and IGS staff to continue to develop relevant curriculum connections, new lessons, projects and activities.

Cafeteria/Harvest of the Month: 10% -Communicate with the food service directors regarding Harvest of the Month items featured in the school lunches - Host Harvest of the Month raffles when possible. - Incorporate Harvest of the Month lessons into your curriculum - Grow Harvest of the Month crops in the garden.

After school clubs: 15% - Plan, advertise and facilitate garden and/or cooking clubs at schools when possible, during one or all of the fall, winter and spring seasons.

Field trips: 5% - Connect schools to local farms and farmers during relevant lessons/units. - Schedule field trips with schools and farmers. - Facilitate field trips when appropriate.

Grant Writer & Researcher: Description: The Yard is seeking a part-time Grant Writer & Researcher to join our team. Job Description Organization

Summary: The Yard is a nonprofit creation and performance platform for local, national, and international artists, with a focus on contemporary dance. The Grant Writer & Researcher will help The Yard meet its institutional contributed income goals. Reporting to the Development Manager, they will coordinate grant applications, reports, research, and communications with granting entities. Duties and Responsibilities - ● Write grant proposals, applications, and reports for new and existing grant opportunities ● Identify new grant opportunities through research of foundation, corporate, and government sources ● Work with Development Manager and Executive Director to develop grant budgets and financial reports ● Manage a calendar of grant opportunities and reports, assisting the Development Manager in tracking due dates, award timelines, and communications with funders ● Support organization-wide efforts to promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility Skills and Qualifications ● Past experience in grant writing, preferably three or more years ● Strong writing and editing skills ● Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft and Google Suite applications ● Excellent communication skills ● Desire to work with a small team of passionate individuals ● Ability to analyze financial statements and create clear budget reports ● Ability to collate information from multiple sources into impactful reports and applications ● Proficient at working independently, managing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines ● Cultural competency to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences

Compensation and Schedule – ● $25-30 per hour, commensurate with experience, with the option to discuss a monthly fee structure; open to W2 and 1099 candidates ● Position is expected to work approximately 15 hours per week. Flexibility exists within the weekly schedule, as grants work tends to ebb and flow and can require more time one week and less the next
