Mission:
The Vineyard Energy Project promotes sustainable energy choices through education, outreach and advocacy.
Major Programs:
- A 10 Year Energy Action Plan for the Vineyard, commissioned by VEP in 2005
- 14 highly-visible solar demonstration sites
- Workshops, lectures and tours for the community and construction trades on the energy challenges ahead and, renewable energy technologies
- Energy education in all the island's grade schools in collaboration with the Cape Light Compact
- an Annual Energy Day each Spring
- Energy information about energy efficiency, how to read electric bills, how to lower energy costs
- An Island-wide Lighting Challenge asking each island home & business to exchange 15 lightbulbs with compact fluorescents, which would lower our island's overall electricity demand by 7%.
