Mission:

Phyllis Veccchia Creative Drama develops and implements participatory theater programs and dramatizations for individuals, groups, schools and communiy organizations to build self-esteem, increase motivation, challenge personal limitations, develop a sense of pride and belonging to the community and encourage an appreciation of the differences in people and cultures.

Phyllis Vecchia Creative Drama is the only program on the Vineyard that is serving the needs of the very young in the theatre realm.  We do this by our afterschool program, summer camp, preschool work and intergenerational work at Windemere.

We are also the only theatre program at Anchors and Windemere working with seniors who have Alzheimer's.  We hope to continue this work along with creating new programming for the year 2010.

Major Programs:

• Intergenerational creative drama workshops offered at Windemere Nursing Home with Grace Church preschool.

• Creative Drama workshop at Anchors, Social Day Program for Seniors in Edgartown.

• Chilmark School, kindergarten, Charter School, kindergarten.

• Preschool work, Garden Gate Child Care Development Center, Montessori Preschool.

• Afterschool program 4.5-9
  Summer program at MVRHS 4.5-9
