Founded: April 12, 2005

Mission:

Our mission is twofold:  We support local economies by purchasing crafts from Zambian artisans and selling them in the U.S. The proceeds of these sales are sent to children’s aid organizations (NGOs) in the same localities as the artists. The underlying purpose is to counterbalance cultural harm due to AIDS/HIV

Programs:

1.) Importing crafts from the Mukuni Village  near Livingstone, Zambia. $500.00 sent bi-monthly to The Mama Bakhita Home for Disabled Children in Livingstone.

2.) Importing crafts from The Women’s Shop at the Cultural Center in Lusaka, Zambia. $500.00 every four months to the Upeme Home (an orphanage) outside of Lusaka.

We sell our crafts at fundraisers at my home in W. Tisbury twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter. We advertise in the directory of the MV Times and also send out email notification. Write to marshawinsryg@gmail.com if you would like to be on the list. We also raise money at our puppet shows, the next will be a major adult oriented production of Cupid and Psyche at the Katherine Cornell Theater on July 7 and 8.
